Rockgrove Construction was founded on a simple belief: construction projects are more successful when they are built on trust, transparency and sound commercial judgement. Having spent more than two decades working across quantity surveying, residential development and construction, we have seen projects from every angle – as consultants, developers, contractors and client representatives. That experience has shaped the way we approach every project today. We understand that for most clients, construction is not simply about bricks and mortar. It is about creating a home, protecting an investment or delivering a vision that has often taken years to develop. Technical expertise is important, but so too are communication, accountability and the ability to make good decisions under pressure. Rockgrove was established to bring these disciplines together under one roof. 

Many contractors approach projects solely from a construction perspective. Our background is different. Before founding Rockgrove, Managing Director Alex McGarel-Groves spent more than twenty years working in quantity surveying, development and project delivery. This included roles with leading consultancies, developers and contractors, delivering projects ranging from complex residential refurbishments to multi-million-pound developments. This experience provides a deep understanding of how projects are funded, procured, designed and delivered. It also provides an appreciation of the pressures faced by clients, architects and consultants throughout the process. As a result, we do not simply focus on building work. We focus on the wider success of the project. 

We believe the best projects are delivered by small, experienced teams with clear lines of communication and responsibility. Our clients deal directly with the people making decisions and managing the project. We favour openness over complexity, collaboration over confrontation and practical solutions over contractual positioning. We are equally comfortable acting under traditional lump-sum contracts, cost-plus arrangements or management contracting structures, selecting the procurement route that best suits the project's objectives rather than forcing projects into a predetermined model. Above all, we believe that trust is earned through actions rather than promises. 

We work predominantly within the private residential sector, delivering high-quality refurbishments, extensions, new-build homes and development projects throughout London and the South East. Many of our clients are undertaking significant construction projects for the first time. Others are experienced developers and property professionals. What they have in common is a desire for quality, transparency and confidence that their project is being managed properly. 

Rockgrove is intentionally built around long-term relationships rather than volume. We undertake a limited number of projects at any one time, allowing us to remain closely involved throughout delivery and provide the level of attention that complex residential projects require. Our reputation will ultimately be defined not by the number of projects we complete, but by the quality of those projects and the relationships we build along the way.

That is the standard we set for ourselves on every project.
